For a machine that costs less than $200, the MOVA S10 earned one of the best carpet deep-clean scores through independent testing.

It automatically senses the intensity of your family’s mess and can raise and lower its suction power to match the job.

Use the independent app to tailor your cleaning experience with customizable options. The app also allows you to create up to 4 distinct floor maps, set no-mop zones, and establish virtual boundaries for control and efficiency.

The battery life is also a standout on this model. It can run for up to 260 minutes and clean over 1800 sq ft in that time.

The catch: No self-emptying base. You’ll empty it manually after each run. For most families, that’s a 10-second task — not a dealbreaker at this price.

Best for: Families with mixed flooring, pet owners, anyone who wants smart navigation without paying a premium.

#2 Best self-emptying pick: Eufy C10

If the idea of emptying a dustbin even once a week sounds like a chore you’d rather skip, the Eufy C10 is your machine.

The self-emptying base is the feature that separates the C10 from similar budget vacuums — up to 8 weeks between empties means it runs its cleaning schedules and handles its own waste disposal without you.

The C10 is ultra-slim, so reaches under low-clearance furniture and it’s great at edge-to-edge cleaning and getting the hard-to-reach corners.

The catch: You’ll need to buy proprietary replacement dust bags for the base. Budget a few dollars every couple of months.

Best for: Anyone who wants truly hands-off cleaning and doesn’t mind spending a little more upfront for it.

#3 Best budget basic: Eufy RoboVac 11S Max (~$130–$160)

No WiFi, no app, no mapping. Just clean floors.

The “S” stands for slim — the 11S Max is roughly half an inch thinner than most competitors, making it the only one in its class that can clean under low entryway tables and similar tight spaces. It excels at cleaning hard floors and does a solid job vacuuming edges, but it’s not great on carpets.

If your home is mostly hard floors and you want something that just works without a learning curve, this is it.

The catch: No smart features at all. You start it with a button and it does its thing. If you want scheduling, zone cleaning, or app control — look elsewhere.

Best for: Apartments, hard floors, buyers who want the simplest possible setup.

#4 Best for pet hair + mopping: Roborock Q7 M5+

At the top end of this price range, the Roborock Q7 M5+ has the highest suction power of all vacuums listed here, so it’s great for serious pet hair and other messes. It features app-controlled mopping, and up to 7–9 weeks of self-emptying capacity.

The catch: It pushes the $300 ceiling, especially at regular price. Watch for sales — it regularly drops $30–$50.

Best for: Pet owners or others who need serious suction and want mopping included without buying two machines.

What to look for before you buy

Suction power (Pa): For daily maintenance on hard floors, 2,000–4,000 Pa works well. If you have carpets or pets, aim for 5,000 Pa or higher. (The Roborock Q7 M5+ has 10,000 Pa.)

Navigation type: LiDAR navigation uses laser mapping to create precise floor plans, offering the most efficient coverage and support for no-go zones. It’s found in premium budget models and makes a real difference in how thoroughly a room gets cleaned. (MOVA S10 & Roborock Q7 M5+ both have this feature.)

Self-emptying base: Genuinely worth the extra cost if you hate remembering small chores. The Eufy C10 is the best value entry point for this feature but the Roborock Q7 M5+ also comes in under $300.

Slim design: Check the vacuum’s height spec before buying — most can’t clean under a couch, but some can reach under entryway tables and nightstands. A 2.85-inch profile is the current slim benchmark, set by the Eufy C10.

The bottom line

For most families, the MOVA S10 is the move — it’s the best performance-per-dollar in this category right now, and the LiDAR mapping puts it years ahead of older budget picks. If you want to never think about emptying a dustbin, step up to the Eufy C10. And if pet hair is your nemesis, the Roborock Q7 M5+ is worth the stretch.

Any of these will transform your floors. The question is just how hands-off you want to be.
